Battery Test Technician

Job description

The Development Test Team designs and executes unique tests for components and subsystems on an accelerated schedule, providing diverse engineering challenges in a dynamic hands-on team.

We are seeking a highly motivated Battery Test Technician to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, Ca and take ownership of our battery test lab. In this role, you will execute critical tests on a variety of battery cells and packs and also manage the lab's operational rythm. You will manage test campaigns, develop test procedures, sequences, and data processing.

Job responsibilities

  • Execute the entire battery test lifecycle, from installing instrumentation through to assisting the engineering team in data acquisition, and reporting.
  • Champion all safety protocols within the battery lab, ensuring a secure environment for all personnel and equipment.
  • Support the operational readiness of the lab by assisting in equipment maintenance, calibration schedules, and inventory of necessary instrumentation and consumables.

Job requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on hardware test environment, with at least 3+ years focused specifically on battery systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience executing a variety of battery performance and lifecycle tests (e.g. HPPC, cycle life, calendar life)
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
  • Knowledge in a data analysis language such as Python or MATLAB for scripting and data processing.
  • Experience with Arbin, Maccor, or other common battery cycler hardware and software.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software and PLM (Siemens NX, Teamcenter, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CAN communication tools (e.g., PCAN, Vector CANalyzer)
