What to Expect As Controller, you'll be Sunday's first accounting hire, reporting to the Head of Finance. You'll own accounting and financial operations end to end.
Job responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close under US GAAP
- Select and drive implementation of a manufacturing-ready ERP, including chart of accounts design, inventory, BOM, and costing
- Manage AP, vendor payments, and spend controls
- Build and lead the accounting and financial operations team
- Transition accounting from our external bookkeeper to an in-house function
- Own audit readiness
- Design product costing and COGS methodology, including standard costs, overhead allocation, and accruals
- Set accounting policy and write technical memos across revenue, inventory, capitalization, software, R&D and IP, leases, and equity comp
Job requirements
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting background; Big 4 strongly preferred
- Hands-on ERP implementation in a manufacturing or hardware environment
- Hands-on inventory and product cost accounting experience
- Broad technical accounting depth: revenue, capitalization, software, IP
- Experience leading a company through external audits
- Track record of building finance processes from scratch at a fast-growing company
- Builder mindset: you do the work yourself while building the team around you
