Job responsibilities

• Engineering Relationships and Interface Serve as a primary EHS Integration interface to Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product, Program Management, Quality, Facilities and Operations, building trusted working…
• Partner with engineering teams to understand their workflows, development processes, decision points, constraints and technical needs, and integrate with them rather than introducing a separate EHS process.
• Proactively identify opportunities where earlier EHS engagement adds value in the development lifecycle, and make that case in engineering terms.
• Represent engineering realities, constraints and priorities back into the EHS organization so that EHS strategy remains executable.
• Coordinate EHS technical resources onto projects requiring specialized safety engineering support, ensuring the appropriate discipline expert is engaged.
• Prevention through Design and Design Standards Drive implementation of Prevention through Design principles across product, manufacturing, equipment, facility and process development.
• Support implementation and continued development of the EHS Design Process, including its integration with engineering phase gates and development milestones.
• Support development, revision and consistent application of the enterprise EHS design standards, design checklists and supporting criteria.

Job requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, human factors, industrial engineering, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, systems engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Progressive experience in a design-facing technical discipline such as EHS or safety engineering, human factors and ergonomics, system safety, process safety, reliability, industrial engineering or design quality,…
• Experience integrating hazard analysis or risk assessment with engineering and program decision-making, rather than after-the-fact compliance work.
• Demonstrated experience embedding a staff function into an engineering or product development organization, building the engagement model rather than only participating in one.
• Demonstrated experience authoring or owning technical standards, design criteria, or equivalent governing documents used by engineers outside your own team.
• Strong facilitation, technical writing and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate technical risk into engineering and business recommendations.
• Evidence of having built something durable: a program, standard, workflow or mechanism that outlasted your personal involvement.
• Direct working experience with Prevention through Design methodology, ANSI/ASSP Z590.3, or an equivalent design-phase safety framework, applied to real design decisions.
