Materials Supervisor
Job description
As a Materials Supervisor, you will play a key role in managing the flow of materials required for the production of autonomous surface vessels. You will oversee inventory control, coordinate with suppliers, ensure timely delivery of materials, and manage material-related quality control processes. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and have a strong understanding of materials management in the defense or aerospace industries.

Job responsibilities
- Material Management : Oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials used in the production of autonomous vessels.
- Receiving Coordination : Work closely with receiving teams to ensure the timely inspection and acceptance of materials. Negotiate pricing, lead times, and monitor performance to maintain the supply chain’s efficiency.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure that all materials meet industry standards and specific DoD requirements. Conduct regular inspections and work with the quality assurance team to address any discrepancies or issues.
- Inventory Control : Implement and maintain an efficient inventory control system. Track inventory levels and perform regular audits to ensure accuracy.
- Logistics Coordination : Coordinate the logistics of incoming materials, ensuring the timely and secure delivery to production facilities. Manage transportation and storage logistics in alignment with project timelines.
- Documentation and Reporting : Maintain up-to-date records of materials, inventories, and order statuses. Generate regular reports on material usage, ordering trends, and stock levels.
- Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor a team of material handlers and other relevant staff. Provide guidance on best practices for material management and logistics.
- Compliance and Safety : Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to materials handling, storage, and transportation. Promote a safe working environment and adhere to safety protocols.
Job requirements
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience : 5+ years of experience in materials management or a related field, preferably in the defense, aerospace, or maritime industries.
- Strong knowledge of material procurement, inventory management, and logistics.
- Familiarity with DoD procurement procedures, regulations, and standards.
- Proficiency in materials management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Experience with materials testing, certifications, and military-grade standards.
- In-depth understanding of supply chain management in high-tech or defense settings.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
