Production Associate

Job description

The Operations Associate will ensure the efficient movement and processing of materials to support production goals, facilitate the timely receipt of raw materials, and prepare finished goods for shipment in a collaborative work environment under specific safety and quality guidelines.

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain.

Job responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of safety compliance, with a focus on the use of production and operational equipment.
  • Operate and train on material processing and manufacturing equipment such as material conveyance, shredding and milling, and material screening and separating.
  • Pick and load inventory needed for production areas.
  • Maintain data and transactions within a Warehouse Management System and create reports to support management decision making.
  • Establish and model quality control mechanisms.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Support the internal flow of material to support production requirements.
  • Receive inbound shipments from suppliers of raw materials, maintenance parts, and engineering equipment.

Job requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred.
  • Hazardous Materials Handling Knowledge: Familiar with hazardous material handling practices; HAZWOPER certification preferred, or the ability to obtain certification, to safely manage and respond to hazardous situations.
  • Physical Stamina & Mobility: Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, twisting, climbing, standing, and walking, including working in multi-level facilities and navigating various plant areas.
  • Respirator & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Usage: Must be able to wear and work with respiratory protection (e.g., respirators or PAPRs) and other necessary PPE in compliance with safety standards.
  • Passion for Sustainability: A strong commitment to sustainability practices and contributing to environmental stewardship and safety within the plant, with a focus on making a positive impact on the world.
  • Exceptional command of the English language, with advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in warehousing or logistics, with a solid understanding of inventory management and operational workflows.
  • A demonstrated track record of prioritizing and maintaining safety standards in all work environments.
