Senior Electrical Engineer — Safety & Systems Integration (On-site)
Job description
At Standard Bots, we're revolutionizing real-world automation by making robotic systems accessible to everyone. Our AI-powered platform enables robots to tackle unprecedented challenges through an intuitive instruction interface, bringing the power of software automation to physical spaces.
Job responsibilities
- Own the design and validation of PCBAs and electrical subsystems in your focus area from concept through production release
- Safety focus: design the safety architecture with Functional Safety — safety PLC or safety controller, dual-channel inputs and outputs, STO and safe power cutoff, safety laser scanners, safety-rated encoders — and…
- Integration focus: own the system electrical architecture — harness and connector design, bus topology (EtherCAT, CAN), power and signal distribution between arms, base, and control box — and lead bring-up of…
- Do the hands-on, technically deep work: schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring-up, test plans, and root-cause debugging
- Lead design reviews, contribute to the component library and release process, and be a technical contact for PCB and harness vendors
- Mentor associate and mid-level engineers
Job requirements
- Experience: Bachelor's or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering (or related) and 5+ years designing, building, and testing PCBAs and electrical systems, including designs you've taken through production release
- EE Depth: Strong in digital electronics (MCUs, Ethernet, SPI/I2C/UART), analog and sensing, power sequencing and protection, and system-level grounding and EMC
- Focus Depth: Either safety-rated design (ISO 13849 / IEC 62061 / IEC 61508 — redundant architectures, diagnostics, STO, safety fieldbus) or system integration (harness and connector design, bus topology, bring-up of…
- Tool Fluency: Proficient in Altium Designer for schematic capture and multi-layer layout; harness tooling (Altium Harness, Rapid Harness, or similar) a plus
- Debugging Mastery: Scope, logic/protocol analyzer, and bench instruments; you document what you find and converge on a fix quickly
- Clarity of Communication: Clear design documentation, crisp trade studies, and design reviews that make your peers better
- Impact Driven: A reliable, manufacturable board that ships beats an elegant one that never leaves the lab
- Excelling in Ambitious Environments: You thrive in a fast-moving team with changing requirements and tight timelines
