Staff Engineer, OEM Platform Integration

Job description

Mission Summary: Our Design Release Engineering team, within the Vehicle Platform Engineering group, is seeking a highly motivated Staff Engineer to own the engineering integration, program management tracking, and cross-functional alignment between Motional’s Autonomous Driving System (ADS) and our vehicle manufacturer (OEM) partner's base vehicle platform.

This role serves as the central orchestrator for the end-to-end hardware integration required to marry our autonomous driving technology with the base vehicle. Job requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in automotive hardware design, release engineering, or vehicle integration, with direct experience managing complex OEM/tier-supplier vehicle programs or platform integrations.
  • Prior experience working within an automotive OEM, or managing large-scale platform integrations as a strategic Tier 1 partner.
  • Demonstrated experience driving multi-disciplinary engineering activities, cross-functional milestone tracking, and risk mitigation strategies throughout the full automotive product lifecycle.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Systems Engineering (or a related field).
  • Deep technical understanding of core vehicle architectures, network topologies (e.g., CAN-FD, automotive ethernet), and electrical/mechanical packaging constraints.
  • Fundamental knowledge of automotive engineering documentation, validation processes, and quality standards (including DVP&R, DFMEA, and PFMEA).
  • Familiarity with CAD systems (e.g., NX, CATIA), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (including requirement management tools such as Polarion), and engineering release workflows.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle integration, packaging, assembly processes, and functional safety standards (ISO 26262).
