Anthropic opens a waitlist for Claude Duet, a proactive agent

Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet on October 21, a new app in which Claude works as a proactive agent for professionals and small business owners. Access is by waitlist, starting with US Pro and Max subscribers, on iOS, Android and claude.ai, and it shares the plan’s usage limits.
Duet carries over your memory, skills and connected apps from Claude. You talk to it in one ongoing thread by text or voice. It has a virtual machine with its own browser, so it keeps working when your laptop or phone is off, and it checks your connected accounts every few hours rather than nonstop to save plan limits.
It reads, drafts and prepares on its own, but shows you what it is about to do and waits for approval before sending a message, making a payment, signing a document or deleting anything. Some things, such as trading securities or moving money between accounts, are off-limits even with approval. Anthropic lists jobs like chasing unpaid invoices in QuickBooks or Stripe, running payroll in Gusto and building a Shopify store, using more than 6,000 connectors in the Claude Marketplace.
