MagicLab, a Chinese robotics startup founded in December 2023, has introduced its collaborative robot, MagicBot, designed to enhance factory operations. MagicBot showcases a range of capabilities including product inspection, material handling, parts picking, and warehousing tasks. With 42 degrees of freedom, each arm can lift up to 44 pounds, translating to a total load capacity of 88 pounds. Its lightweight construction and efficient battery life of up to five hours support various operational activities, signaling a noteworthy advancement in automated manufacturing technologies.
In a recent video, MagicBot is seen performing tasks in a factory setting while engaging in small-scale collaborative operations alongside other humanoid robots. These demonstrations illustrate the innovative design, utilizing advanced high-torque servo actuators and multi-dimensional pressure sensors for remarkable dexterity and adaptability. Capable of mimicking around 70 percent of human hand gestures, MagicBot can delicately handle a variety of objects and perform diverse tasks, such as roasting marshmallows, watering plants, and even performing magic tricks. Equipped with a comprehensive array of sensors for environmental awareness, MagicBot uses the MagicData AI engine to continuously improve decision-making and execution. The next iteration of MagicBot is anticipated for small-scale production in early 2025.
