Feather Robotics bets on a modular $30,000 humanoid for developers
The year-old startup sells configurable humanoid hardware that can run other companies’ robot AI models, and says it has passed $1 million in revenue.
Feather Robotics wants to be the platform other robotics companies build on, TechCrunch reported. Instead of trying to ship both a humanoid body and a general-purpose robot brain, the startup sells hardware and software tools that developers can put to work on real tasks today.
Co-founder Hoa Mai started Feather in 2025 after selling his previous humanoid company to 1X. His co-founder, Parsa Bakhtiari, is a former Tesla Model 3 engineer. Gradient Ventures led Feather’s previously announced $7.6 million pre-seed round.
The system is modular, so customers can change parts such as arm length to fit a job. Feather has sold small numbers of robots and passed $1 million in revenue. It would not name customers, but said its machines are cooking in restaurants and cleaning science labs. The hardware can run models from providers including Nvidia, Skild and Physical Intelligence.
The robot is priced at $30,000, which TechCrunch put at about half the price of Unitree’s H2 Edu. Mai said the team has worked through nearly all of the issues found in a year of field testing and is preparing for a larger product launch.
