Can Grok Bot phone a restaurant? Only with a calling connector
A viral post showed a Bot booking a table by phone. Calling is not built in; it comes from add-on services such as ClawCall.
After a widely shared post showed a Grok Bot booking a restaurant table over the phone, the independent guide site What Should My Bot Do? looked at how that works. Its finding: Grok Bot’s built-in voice feature is a spoken chat between you and your own Bot, not a phone line, and it found no xAI or Cursor page describing a Bot calling a business.
Outbound calls come from third-party connectors. Grok Bot supports the same MCP servers as Cursor, so a Bot can add a calling service such as ClawCall. ClawCall says it calls only US numbers, in English, and that its AI says it is an AI when asked.
The guide recommends having the Bot read back the number, the purpose of the call and what it may agree to before dialing, keeping an ask-first rule for calls, asking for the transcript rather than just a status, and never letting it agree to prices, contracts or payments.
