Job description
Headquartered in Long Beach, California , and with more than 1,000 employees and over a billion dollars in private capital, Vast has built the facilities required to manufacture and operate America’s next space station. The company plans to develop future habitats and systems for the Moon and Mars, dedicated space stations for government partners, and other crewed systems that will unlock the expanding long-term space economy.
This will be a full-time , exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Vast is developing next-generation space stations and space infrastructure using an incremental, hardware-rich, and low-cost approach.

Job responsibilities
- Rapidly ideate visual concepts to help align creative objectives
- Develop original, futuristic, and realistic concept art for products in low Earth orbit, on the lunar surface, and beyond, ensuring visuals are both visionary and technically feasible
- Collaborate with aerospace engineers and other stakeholders to understand the technical constraints and operational requirements of space products
- Generate detailed visual concepts for key elements such as living quarters, research labs, communal areas, docking bays, and other spacecraft infrastructure
- Produce polished visuals for marketing, sales, investment and proposals
- Drive animation creative direction via visual compositions and storyboards
- Research technology, design, and cutting-edge trends in space and entertainment industries
- Contribute to a master 3D file library of assets and concept art visuals to be shared across team members and vendors
Job requirements
- 7+ years of experience as a concept artist in the aerospace, gaming, film or TV industry
- Expert in visual, modeling and rendering software such as Photoshop, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Blender, Maya, Vray, Redshift
- Expert understanding of composition, lighting and storytelling
- Deep understanding and passion for aerospace, space exploration, or related scientific fields
- Ability to produce high-quality artwork and design proposals, from rough sketches to polished designs for marketing purposes
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
