Vietnam’s Vingroup Debuts First Humanoid Robot, Eyes Global Tech Race

Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate, Vingroup, has unveiled its first humanoid robot, marking a historic milestone in the nation’s technological evolution.

Developed by Vingroup’s newly established subsidiary, VinMotion, the robot, dubbed VinRobot, represents Vietnam’s ambitious push into the global AI and automation race. The company, founded earlier this year with an initial investment of $38.4 million, achieved this breakthrough in just three months, demonstrating the rapid innovation capabilities of Vietnamese engineers.

A New Era for Vietnamese Robotics

VinRobot is designed to perform basic tasks such as walking, gesturing, and simple interactions, with immediate applications in manufacturing and industrial automation. Initially, it will be deployed in VinFast’s electric vehicle factories, handling repetitive assembly-line duties, parts transportation, and quality inspections.

Looking ahead, VinMotion plans to enhance the robot’s intelligence with natural language processing, computer vision, and advanced mobility, targeting sectors like healthcare, logistics, customer service, and even domestic assistance.

Vietnam’s Bid for Global Tech Leadership

The launch positions Vietnam as a rising player in the $7 trillion global humanoid robotics market, projected by Citibank to exceed 600 million units worldwide by 2050.

Pham Nhat Vuong, Vingroup’s chairman and Vietnam’s first billionaire, emphasized the significance of this achievement: “VinRobot is proof that Vietnam can be a creator of cutting-edge technology, not just a consumer. We are determined to compete on the global stage.”

Strategic Expansion in High-Tech Industries

VinMotion joins Vingroup’s growing portfolio of tech ventures, including VinAI (artificial intelligence), VinBrain (medical AI), VinBigData (data analytics), and VinES (energy solutions). The company is also forging international partnerships to accelerate development and commercialization.

Beyond its technical merits, VinRobot symbolizes Vietnam’s determination to embrace AI and automation, signaling a transformative shift in the country’s economic and technological landscape.

As the first ‘Made-in-Vietnam’ humanoid robot, VinRobot is more than a product, it’s a statement of ambition, proving that Vietnam is ready to compete in the world’s most demanding tech arenas.
